1. Gradually introduce your new Trophy Dog Food over a five day period. Mix with the current food, increasing the Trophy food by 20% each day, until the changeover is complete.
2. Feed twice a day to improve digestion and stabilise blood sugar levels. In some cases this can also help reduce hyperactivity and nervousness.
3. Always feed the correct amount, don’t be tempted to over feed, as our complete food will look less. There is a feeding guide on each bag, a 15kg bag will last an average sized dog around 4-5 weeks. Intake amounts will vary depending on weight, size, age, and activity levels and well-being. Feeding guides are intended as a starting point and can be adjusted within the brackets given.
4. Live natural yoghurt may be added to improve intestinal bacteria or clear up minor stomach upsets.
5. Monitor your dog’s motions; if they become loose then your dog could be eating more than it needs. Please note, however, that for a short time their motions may change colour and become loose as your dog gets used to their new food.
6. Fussy eaters often eat grass which may suggest indigestion / heart burn. Feeding from a raised bowl and/or moistening the food will help.
7. Make sure clean, fresh water is always available. Dogs do drink more water when fed a complete food, as the food contains little moisture.
8. Do not panic if your dog does not eat every day, it is not a sign of illness or that they no longer like the food. Dogs naturally have days when they do not want to eat, as we do.
9. If your dog suffers from wind, adding water to the food will help reduce the amount of air taken in when eating. Feeding from a raised bowl will also help.
10. All large breed dogs should be fed from a raised bowl, to prevent digestive problems.
11. Always consult your Local Trophy Nutritiional Advisor should you have any problems. They are there to help. All our agents are fully trained in Pet Nutrition to ensure you receive the correct product for your dog.
12. Always check the feeding rate & cost per day.
